In Their Closet: Someone Like You

In Their Closet Project: Lauren from Someone Like You

I am pleased to announce that I decided to start a new rubric on my blog called "In their closet". Personally, I love looking at people's closets and I think most of you like reading "what's in my bag", "what's in my closet". I guess it's people's curious nature. So I decided to contact some amazing bloggers to give you once or twice a month a sneak peak of their closets.

I am really happy to introduce my first guesst blogger who agreed to share this private part of her life. Lauren from Someone Like You. Lauren just graduated from high school so I'd like to wish her a bright stylish future. If you, like me, like everything vintage from clothes to jewellery to interior then I'm sure you'll love Lauren's blog and her style. You will instantly get a romantic nostalgic feeling from her outfits and the pictures of her room that she shared with us.Sheer fabrics, lace and looots of flowers will make you feel dreamy =)

 Questions & Answers

Do you arrange your closet by color or by type?
Color! I've had my closet arranged by the colors of the rainbow from light to dark for a few years now and works marvelous when trying to find pieces to match together quickly. The colors are organized from left to right by: white, cream, yellow, orange, pink, green, blue, purple, brown, and then black and white pieces. My closet isn't very big, so I continue on the bottom racks with my blacks and then my florals!

Do you completely rearrange your closet for the different seasons? Or you simply add the new pieces?
I still live at home with my parents until I go off to college this fall, and unfortunately have the smallest closet out of all the rooms. Hey, I was only six when I got the room and they didn't know I was going to be a clothing hoarder ;) I do a little bit of season swapping such as taking my shorts out of a drawer and hanging them up and putting my heavy sweaters there in exchange, but nothing too big. It's easier for me to just add new pieces in as I purchase them; it's so much fun to see how they add color and pattern to spice up my closet!

Do you put the new pieces you bought somewhere in the front of the closet to see them easily and use them more often?
It's something I definitely should do, but sadly my OCD is so bad that I can never have any piece not in its proper color section. Usually if I buy a new piece or have a special event coming up (i.e. prom, graduation) I'll hang that garment on a little clothing hook in my room to display until the date arrives. Just as a little reminder!
Do you have a color that’s dominant for your closet?
Hehe, can florals be a color?! But seriously, I am a total floral pattern hoarder. I buy them in all sizes, all colors, and on every type of garment. It's such a terrible obsession and I've been trying to abstain from buying anymore as of late!

Shoes, bags and accessories

shoes
There is literally no room in my closet for shoes, so my closet kind of continues on outside to my entire room. I line my shoes up by style on the floor and on a shoe rack. I then store some of my flats on a shoe holder on my closet door.

 purses
Again, since there's no room in my closet my bags just sort of take over a small space! I hang them up over my standing mirror for easy access to grab when I'm on the go.

accessories
I keep my accessories in two different places; one on a hanging shelf and the other on my dresser. My longer necklaces I hang up on pegs on a little standing shelf that holds all sorts of nick nacks on the top. On my dresser I thrifted a pretty 1970's jewelry box that houses all of my rings, clip earrings (I don't have my ears pierced!), delicate necklaces, and bracelets.

hats
My all time favorite piece to add to outfits are hats! I store all of my thrifted hats on the top of my book shelf. Each of them has a special story ♥

 Finds & Favourites

This was my first floral crown and DIY project I ever tried out. Floral crowns are just so whimsical and romantic. The perfect addition to any outfit.

My beret collection! Berets are my absolute favorite hat ever and I want to someday own one in every color. They hide all of my bad hair days (which is all too often!).

A sweet reader named Kezzie was so sweet enough to send me a surprise package from Paris one day with a lace collar a postcard. It's one of the nicest things anyone had ever done for me!

On my bookcase I keep all of my magazines. There's so much fun to look back on and are constant sources of reoccurring inspiration for me. My mom says she's going to throw them away when I go to college...I sure hope not!
My dresser is where I display all of my lipsticks...they're my favorite makeup to collect because they come in such pretty packaging...I'm always so cautious to use them because they're so perfect!
My freshman year of high school I won the best dresses student award which came as a total shock for me. There were so many upperclassman girls who I admired and thought should have won that it blew my mind that I did! I felt so honored, and it really inspired me to keep doing what I love; fashion.

Little snippets of photo booth pictures of me and my boyfriend from the past three proms. We've been dating for five years so they all hold a special place in my heart and many memories.

Along with lipsticks, I love nail polish! Revlon is my absolute favorite; I wish I could have every color (if my budget allowed it of course!).

Thank you Lauren for your fabilous job!
